Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy

We provide individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to learners of all ages in their home, community, or school when medically appropriate. As parents, you know your child best, and Vise ABA Therapy values your input and perspective. Your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will work closely with you to develop meaningful goals that align with your priorities, your child's strengths, and their unique learning style.

What Does Therapy Actually Look Like?

Every therapy session is different because every child is different. A session with a 3-year-old who hasn't said his first words yet might involve lots of animated play, following his lead, and tapping into his natural motivation to request his favorite toys or activities—turning everyday moments into opportunities for communication.

On the other hand, therapy with an 11-year-old who's navigating friendship challenges looks completely different. If she's a Taylor Swift fan, her therapist might play clips of Taylor and Travis, pausing to explore their body language, predict what happens next, or practice conversation starters she could use with peers.

Our goal is simple: make therapy fun and engaging while helping your child learn and grow. We strive to deliver therapy as naturally as possible, though sometimes more structured approaches are needed depending on the skill being taught.

Our Commitment to You

Regardless of session structure, we are committed to providing compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming care. We reject compliance-based programs and embrace contemporary ABA practices that prioritize:

  • Respecting your child's assent and autonomy
  • Incorporating insights from the autistic community
  • Evidence-based approaches like Greg Hanley's Skills-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Relational Frame Theory

We're here to support your child in becoming their best self—on their terms.

Social Skills Groups

Social skills groups bring together learners with similar goals and developmental levels to practice essential social skills in a supportive, structured environment. Typically, one clinician works with up to four learners simultaneously, creating the perfect setting for meaningful peer interaction and real-world practice.

What We Work On

While each social skills group is uniquely tailored to its participants, most focus on developing abilities such as:

  • Starting and maintaining conversations
  • Recognizing social cues (like when someone is losing interest)
  • Managing emotions in social situations
  • Building independence with peers
  • Age-appropriate social interactions

The specific priorities for each group are determined collaboratively with parents to ensure the curriculum addresses what matters most to your family.

Why Social Skills Groups Work

Many of our learners already know what they should do in social situations—they just need structured practice to use these skills confidently and naturally. Social skills groups provide this opportunity by connecting learners who are similar in age and ability. This peer-based format allows participants to practice in real-time with each other, making the learning experience more authentic, engaging, and transferable to their everyday lives.

Caregiver Collaboration

Caregiver collaboration and training is an integral part of your child's ABA services. Many autistic children learn skills in one setting but need support to use those same skills across different people, situations, and environments. Our goal is to ensure therapy is meaningful and that you're seeing progress at home, where it matters most.

How It Works

Your BCBA will work with you to identify a few situations where you'd like support—this could be preventing meltdowns at the grocery store, building your child's communication skills, or helping them use safe hands with siblings.

Sessions typically follow one of three formats, depending on your family's needs at the time:

  • Collaborative planning: Discussing your child's treatment plan and adjusting goals together
  • Education: Learning about autism and practical, effective strategies you can use
  • Hands-on practice: Trying out strategies together with real-time coaching and support

We Meet You Where You Are

Your BCBA will always meet you where you are—we understand how overwhelming life can be and all the emotions that come up when navigating challenging situations. There's no judgment here, just partnership and support as you help your child thrive.
